American University Club Golf was founded in the fall of 2011 by a group of students with
a strong desire to continue playing golf at the collegiate level. Through lots of paperwork and
countless late-night meetings, the club was born and recently completed their first season last Spring.
The club is a member of the National Collegiate Club Golf Association (nccga.org) and will compete against twelve other schools from throughout Maryland and Virginia in two regional tournaments per semester in the hopes of qualifying for NCCGA Nationals, to be held this year at the Kampen Course, a Pete Dye masterpiece on the grounds of Purdue University in West Lafayette, IN.
The club will conduct numerous fundraising events throughout the semester, including letter-writing campaigns, tabling at basketball games, bake sales, contests at the local courses, and much more. As a new club, we are completely self-sufficient for our first year in existence, putting a huge emphasis on this aspect of club business.
Through support from friends, family, and contacts established through extensive networking, the club will seek to raise enough money to enable us to practice, purchase uniforms, pay for lodging, and compete in tournaments. Through all of this, the club hopes to raise the profile of our school, our sport, and enjoy this great game that so many people around the world have come to love.
